Seghesio Family Vineyards is inviting guests to step into the winery’s cellar to discover Seghesio’s rich heritage rooted in Sonoma County winegrowing.
Tucked away in an intimate alcove amidst large redwood tanks and Old Vine Zinfandel displays, guests can relax comfortably in a lounge while enjoying a curated flight of current Old Vine releases and treasured library vintages complemented by small bites crafted by the winery’s Executive Chef Peter Janiak.
The Old Vine wine flight and tasting menu change with the seasons and tell the story of how Old Vines personify the Seghesio Family in their perseverance, character and sense of place.
The star of the show is an actual Old Vine from Block 5 of the family’s original Home Ranch vineyard that was planted in 1895. The vine is suspended from the ceiling and hovers above three distinct soil samples to that guests can easily see the vine’s structure and root system.
What makes Old Vines special is that their rootstock limits them naturally, producing smaller berried clusters and lower yields, while expending less energy on vegetation. They’re also deep-rooted, sometimes digging down 15 feet to find moisture.
The result is exceptional fruit with structured tannins, vibrant acidity and briary spiced characteristics. Those elements shine through in the Old Vine wine flights. Guests will savor age-worthy wines with persistent length and textural richness unique to Old Vines.
