Great Oregon Wine Co. (GOWC), McMinnville, Ore., said it is donating $20,000 to the Humane Society of the U.S. this year on behalf of Rascal Wines. GOWC will also donate product throughout the year to HSUS’ fundraising events.
“The Rascal brand has been wildly successful. Our Pinot Noir is among the top selling Oregon Pinot Noirs in the US and in Oregon,” said Ari Walker, CEO of GOWC. “We felt that it was time to give back and wanted to identify a charity with which we truly identified. The Humane Society of the United States fosters respect, understanding and compassion for all creatures, and that’s something that we can truly support as a brand.”
All $20,000 of GOWC’s donation will help fund HSUS’ Animal Rescue Team efforts. The Animal Rescue Team works with law enforcement to investigate animal cruelty, targeting some of the worst cases of animal abuse nationwide. Every year, the team rescues thousands of animals from puppy mills, animal fighting operations, natural disasters and other situations where animals suffer from life-threatening cruelty and neglect, as well as providing expert animal rescue response for natural disasters.
