Pa. Gov. Urges Bars, Restaurants in Eastern Pa. to Close, PLCB Shutting Stores

Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Wolf urged bars and liquor stores to “curtail business” until further notice.  Restaurants, if they remain open, should only be open for carry-out and delivery, the state said.

In response, Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board said it would close in in Bucks, Chester, Delaware and Montgomery Counties.  People can still buy beer and wine in grocery stores, it said.

As of press time, the number of cases in Pennsylvania — largely around Philadelphia – was 63 with nearly half in Montgomery County. New Jersey has 31, including a professor at Rutgers University’s Piscataway campus.

But medical marijuana dispensaries can remain open.

In a related development, Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan ordered every casino, racetrack and simulcast betting facility in the state to close. The number of cases in the state is now 31, up from 26, and are mostly clustered in Montgomery and Prince George’s counties.
