That’s according to an Elon University Poll conducted in October. Thirty-seven percent favored have the stores open, 52% wanted them closed and 10% said they didn’t know.
Fifty-two percent said they supported a proposal to close ABC stores and have their operation to be assumed by private stores. Thirty-two percent opposed closing ABC stores.
Nearly six of 10 (57%) said if ABC stores were closed, licensed to sell liquor should go to any store that currently sells beer or wine. Some 31% would have the licenses go to stores that sell liquor. Seventy-six percent said they had previously shopped at a North Carolina ABC store.
