Despite a resurgence of Covid around the country, the number of places open and pouring beer remained steady at 91% of locations open for the third consecutive period, and, for the second period in a row, matches the same rate from a year ago, BeerBoard said. The rate has consistently registered at 90% or above since late January.
Average Number of Taps averaged 19 per location nationally for the third straight period. Four states tracked saw an increase — Michigan (24) added two taps, while New York (20), Tennessee (19) and South Carolina (17) added one tap each.
The Percentage Taps Pouring also held firm at 71% for the second straight period. Eight of the 10 states tracked saw an increase — Michigan climbed to 75% (up from 72%) and South Carolina grew to 72% (up from 70%).
For the second straight period, Volume saw an increase — this time up +10.8% (after a +3.8% climb for the prior period). Every state tracked saw growth, paced by Nevada (+15.0%), Minnesota (+12.1%) and Texas (+11.6%).
