As of July 1, Old Bridge Cellars (OBC) will handle sales and marketing for the legendary Stags Leap District estate, Clos Du Val. There won’t be a change in the distributor network.
Founded in 1972, Clos Du Val is one of the wineries that put Napa Valley on the map as a globally renowned wine region. From its participation in the famed 1976 Judgement of Paris onwards, Clos Du Val has earned a reputation as an icon of Napa Valley winemaking, with an estate program spanning more than 300 acres, including 100 acres of Stags Leap District Cabernet Sauvignon.
Since 2014, Clos Du Val has focused exclusively on producing estate-grown wines made from the winery’s vineyards in Stags Leap District, Yountville and Carneros. This new estate-focused portfolio, which was developed by the veteran winery team of Winemaker Ted Henry and Director of Operations Jon-Mark Chappellet, includes the Napa Valley Estate Cabernet Sauvignon (SRP $55), Hirondelle Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon (SRP $125) and Three Graces Cabernet Blend (SRP $179), as well as the Estate Pinot Noir (SRP $40) and Estate Chardonnay (SRP $35) from Clos Du Val’s Gran Val Vineyard in Carneros.
“We have been looking for a Napa Valley winery with deep roots in the area for three years now. We’re thrilled to have found a partnership with Clos Du Val, which is one of Napa Valley’s iconic names,” said Rob Buono, president, Old Bridge Cellars. “This is a great fit with our focus on authentic producers who demonstrate a sense of place in their wines.”
Steve Tamburelli, Clos Du Val’s president, adds, “The past several years have been a time of unprecedented change at Clos Du Val that have touched every aspect of our winery. Because OBC has such an exceptional track record of representing special family-owned wineries from around the world, it is extremely exciting for us to partner with them during this renaissance for our winery.”
