NY Craft Brewers Aid Upstate Brewery Gutted by Fire

A fire late Monday gutted much of the brewhouse at Common Roots Brewing, South Glen Falls, N.Y.

Almost immediately after the fire, other Upstate New York craft brewers offered help.  And while it’s too soon to tell exactly what help Common Roots might need, the breweries are ready, said Paul Leone, director of the New York State Brewers Association.

That help might be equipment, brewing space, making some Common Roots styles to keep them in circulation while the facility is rebuilt.  Or brewers could produce special brews and offer to proceeds to benefit Common Roots.

That’s what happened in 2012, where Brewery Ommegang, near Cooperstown, produced Barrier Relief as a fundraiser to benefit Barrier Brewing Co.  on Long Island.
