Napa Wineries Can’t Use Food Trucks to Open Earlier

California’s Gov. Gavin Newsom issued Covid-19 guidelines that allowed wineries that serve food to open while those that don’t serve food must remain closed.  Some wineries had a bright idea:  Bring in food trucks.

But Napa County officials have nixed that idea.  Nor are they permitting dine-in meals.

Meanwhile, in a related development, new data compiled by Rob McMillan, executive VP and founder of Silicon Valley Bank‘s Wine Division, indicates small wineries have largely made up the revenue lost from the forced closure of tasting rooms, the North Bay Business Journal said.

They’ve done it by focusing on phone and e-commerce sales, which jumped to 10% and 16% respectively, from a total of 3% of sales and winery mailing list and subscription sales rose to 35% from 23%.    Mailing list and subscription sales remained steady at 10%
