Napa County has refused to let wineries open with food trucks, despite a state order that would appear to allow them to do so.
Turns out that Napa isn’t alone. Kansas City, Mo., regulators, for instance, say they will enforce a requirement that at least 50% or $200,000, whichever is less, of a restaurant-bar’s gross revenue must come from the sale of food. Their hands are tied, they say, because it’s a city ordinance.
That’s led to complaints. One operator, Julep Cocktail Club, says it will be hard for small bars to meet the minimum while also dealing with social distancing requirements.
After Julep announced on Facebook it will likely lose its liquor license several city councilmen reached out. We’ll let you know how this develops.
