Twelve military grocery stores will begin selling beer and wine in a 90-day test. It’s expected the results will lead to sales at all commissaries.
Currently, alcohol beverages are sold at “Class 6” stores on military bases, with profits going to support morale, welfare and recreation programs. To avoid impacting those programs, the commissaries will buy alcohol beverages from the Class 6 stores, part of the post/base exchanges.
