Somebody at Anheuser-Busch rashly made what sounded like a promise that if the Philadelphia Eagles won the Super Bowl it would facilitate Eagles player Lane Johnson’s promise that he would give free beer to everybody in Philadelphia. The Eagles did, and now A-B says, well, there will be free beer. But not all over the city. And not for everybody.
In fact, to be available at “multiple” bars – but not all bars – along the victory parade route Thursday. And it will be limited to one beer per person.
“It’s certainly nice that Budweiser is doing this,” Philadelphia magazine commented today. “But we can’t help but wish that Johnson was a fan of Mercedes sedans. Or trips to Hawaii. Or, you know, just a better beer.” Ouch.
