The premier recipes – Pineapple Pomelo, Ruby Red Grapefruit, Raspberry Lime and Black Cherry – are built on the same tasting profile as the 137-year old, cult favorite Polar Seltzer. This means they share the same proprietary carbonation style and premium natural flavors and aromas, except Arctic Summer beverages are spiked with alcohol. The alcohol – made from sugar cane and triple-filtered for a crystal-clear liquid comes in at 5% ABV – is chilled to temperatures just above freezing and then infused with carbonation.
“We have been asked countless times why we don’t produce a spiked version of our seltzers. As a family business that was originally rooted in whiskey, we were intrigued but never found the right opportunity even with such growth in the spiked seltzer category. We wanted to partner with a team of experts who could craft an alcohol that would marry with seltzer in an authentic way – clean, crisp taste with no syrupiness,” said Lisbet Crowley, Polar Bubble Innovations Manager
Arctic Summer is spiked clean, with a smooth taste and is naturally gluten-free (not processed to be gluten-free). A lot of work was invested in crafting an alcohol at 5% ABV while remaining clean and pleasing to the palate like seltzer.
“Having a clean alcohol meant we had the perfect blank canvas onto which we paint amazing flavors and aromas. We didn’t need to worry about masking syrupy undertones.” said Jon Schwartz, VP of Arctic Summer.
