Marqués de Riscal signed Magrino to handle public relations in the U.S.
Not only is the pioneering Spanish producer responsible for putting Rioja winemaking on the map, but it also has a 158-year family history, a five-star hotel and Michelin-starred restaurant on the property designed by Frank O. Gehry. The brand will join Magrino’s wine and spirits division which includes the luxury wine brands Marchesi Antinori, Moët Hennessy Estates & Wines, Chateau d’Esclans, Nicolas Feuillatte, Barrymore Wines and several William Grant & Sons’ brands.
Founded in 1858 by Guillermo Hurtado de Amézaga, Marqués de Riscal was the first Spanish producer to commercially bottle wines under the Rioja name, spearheading a Bordeaux-style red wine in Rioja and establishing high-quality, bold and impressive wines to join the ranks of its Italian and French counterparts.
Marqués de Riscal also played an important role in rescuing and rejuvenating the verdejo vineyards in the Rueda DO region, introducing a new crisp, refreshing aromatic white varietal for consumers to enjoy in warmer seasons.
