Terms weren’t disclosed. But David Bowman, evp, Jackson Family Wines told the San Francisco Chronicle a group of investors who bought a majority stake from founders Greg Brewer and Steve Clifton two years ago “got a very good return on their investment.”
Founder and Winemaker Greg Brewer will remain at the helm, continuing to craft the wines with the same passion for expressing the voice of the Sta. Rita Hills.
Steve Clifton and his wife Crystal each continued to own 10% of the winery after the sale to investors. But they focused on launching their own label, La Voix. They also own the Italian-focused Palmina label.
The transaction, expected to close on Friday, May 19, also includes the Diatom brand, a crisp expression of Sta. Rita Hills Chardonnay, as well as Brewer-Clifton’s leased winery, tasting room and vineyards.
