Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp signed legislation allowing home delivery of spirits and authorizing spirits tastings in off-premise retail stores.
“Both home delivery of spirits and package store tastings will help modernize the marketplace while benefitting consumers and local businesses in Georgia,” said Jay Hibbard, VP-State Government Relations, Distilled Spirits Council of the U.S. “We applaud Governor Kemp for supporting the state’s hospitality industry and look forward to seeing the benefits of this consumer- and business-friendly law come to fruition.”
Under the bill, HB 879, restaurants and off-premise retailers will be able to home deliver spirits. Off-premise retailers will also be able to have 52 tastings per year per licensee.
With the addition of Georgia, 48 states plus the District of Columbia allow some form of spirits tastings at retail premises.
