LA Explosion that Injured 11 Firefighters Was Due to Marijuana Processing
More than 240 firefighters had responded to the fire, which spread to several nearby buildings during the 13-hour battle. The business operating at the building was Smoke Tokes, the Los Angeles Fire Department said. It was a wholesale supplier of hash oil, a concentrated form of marijuana.
Making hash oil involves using butane to extract THC, which is the ingredient that produces the marijuana “high.” The Drug Enforcement Administration says the process is dangerous and has resulted in explosions. Butane is highly volatile.
