Not all London Dry Gin is produced in London, and this one is produced in England’s oldest gin distillery in an antique copper gin still dating to the 19th Century. Highclere Castle was featured on the Downton Abbey TV series. The bottle was inspired by the main tower at the 800-year-old estate.
The 5,000-acre estate is owned by the eighth Earl and Countess of Carnavon.
“We have a farm and are very focused on what we eat, and we believe in the link from farm to table and garden to glass,” Lady Fiona Carnarvon, the Countess of Carnarvon, tells Fortune. “Our journey to create the gin has been some years in the making, and I was looking to anchor it here at Highclere Castle to stay true to our story and heritage.”
Lady Carnarvon is quite the entrepreneur, with a blog, a Highclere Castle Cigar Co., tours, books, lodges for rent on the property, etc.
