Distillery Owner to Plead Innocent in College Admissions Scandal

Marci Palatella, CEO of a liquor distributor that owns Preservation Distillery in Bardstown, Ky., was among 33 wealthy parents and a number of coaches and college administrators, charged March 12 in the nation’s largest college admissions bribery case.

She’s accused to paying $575,000 of William “Rick” Singer who helped her son cheat on a college admissions test and win admission to the University of Southern California.

Palatella has been hit with additional charges after refusing to a plea deal and faces not only the original charge of mail and wire fraud, but also an additional charge of money laundering.
