Cloudy Bay (Moët Hennessy), the New Zealand wine, became the principal partner of the J Class Association.
Originally designed to compete for the America’s Cup in the 1930s, the J Class yachts are considered some of the most beautiful boats ever built. Today, eight J Class yachts are sailing in the world’s most gorgeous waters and many still grace the start lines at prestigious regattas.
The lifestyle embodied by Cloudy Bay reflects the lifestyle of elegant sailing and timelessness of these legendary yachts and their crew of passionate gentlemen, Cloudy Bay said. The partnership between these two iconic brands is an invitation to “Sail Away” – to take a well-deserved break by enjoying simple and natural luxuries.
“We are delighted to become the principal partner of the J Class Association. Cloudy Bay lifestyle – driven by its New Zealand origins and mindset – is all about experiencing the good life with elegance. The brand has always been inspired by the nautical universe, quite evidently because of its location in the southwestern Pacific Ocean and the maritime influence that stems from it. This alliance with J Class therefore seemed evident, almost natural.” says Jean-Guillaume Prats, President of Estates & Wines, the Moët Hennessy wine division.
The partnership between Cloudy Bay and the J Class Association officially commenced on March 16th at the St. Barths Bucket, a four-day regatta during which 6 J Class yachts participated. This summer, for the first time in more than 80 years, the iconic J Class yachts have been invited to compete in Bermuda at the America’s Cup J Class Regatta as well as in Newport during the inaugural J Class World Championships, with Cloudy Bay as the fleet’s principal partner.”
