And in seven countries. Which goes to show there is some benefit in doing these things virtual.
The event kicks off tomorrow at 9 a.m. EDT on the Buffalo Trace Distillery Facebook Page with the singing of the National Anthem by Christina Kaloyanides. Registration is open until 9:00p on Sunday, July 5 if you have any friends and family that would like to join you last minute for the race.
Runners and walkers — including your Editor, who does not expect to place high –will participate in this year’s virtual 5k in their hometowns and local neighborhoods wherever they are located during the period of July 3-5.
With the health and safety of participants and employees in mind, the Distillery will be closed to participants. Running is not permitted through the Distillery.
Due to this being a virtual race, and in the spirit of fairness, prizes will not be awarded to top runners this year. On behalf of all participants, Buffalo Trace Distillery will make a donation to God’s Pantry Food Bank to aid in COVID-19 relief efforts for the community.
Everyone who registers will be entered into a raffle for the chance to receive a hand-made American Flag made from bourbon barrel staves, which can be donated to the charity of their choice for fundraising.
