Baltimore Whiskey Launches 1st Pechuga Style Apple Brandy

Baltimore Whiskey Co. expanded its apple brandy line to include Asimina Pumila: the first Pechuga style Apple Brandy.

A spin on Baltimore Whiskey’s mescal style Charles St. Apple Brandy, which was featured on Playboy.com’s article “Strangest Spirit in Each State,” Asimina Pumila is a smoked Apple Brandy infused with locally foraged paw-paws, persimmons, and black walnuts. It’s extra-long distillation takes place with a Maryland cured Country Ham hung in the copper pot-still. The local fruits, nuts, and meat infuse the spirit into a one-of-a-kind drinking experience for special occasions.

“We wanted to do something that reflects the local terroir,” said Head Distiller Eli Breitburg-Smith, “Plus, we wanted to do it with due reverence to the Mescal and Pechuga producers. We couldn’t be more proud of how it turned out. It’s truly one of a kind, and a Maryland spirit through and through.”

Asimina Pumila can only be distilled during Maryland’s very short paw-paw season, meaning The Baltimore Whiskey Company will only distill it once a year. It will be available through select Maryland and D.C. retailers, as well as at the distillery while supplies last.
