There’s not much good that’s come from Covid-19, but this is one: The Spirit Forward Womxn’s Empowerment Series powered by Bacardi Women in Leadership will be online and for free.
The series takes place online on Tuesday, June 23, from 1- 5 p.m. ET. The Spirit Forward Womxn’s Empowerment Series is part of efforts by family-owned Bacardi to champion the industry, while bringing forth thought-provoking speakers and topics that are top of mind and instrumental in creating change.
Speakers and panelists will focus on timely topics amidst the current landscape, including managing finances during a global pandemic, what to expect as bars begin to re-open across the world with lessons learned from China, along with moments to honor the LGBTQ+ community.
Returning to Spirit Forward for a third time is activist and educator, Ashtin Berry, hosting an eye-opening session on Black History within hospitality. Ashtin will also co-host a segment called “Treacherous Waters” alongside industry leader and Head Distiller for Privateer Rum Maggie Campbell. Together, they will explore the power dynamics of white women in relation to women of color.
Because of COVID-19 safety and health restrictions, the program will be online. In support of a recovering hospitality industry, Bacardi is offering the event free of charge for the first time.
“At Bacardi, we are about being a part of moments that matter and we want to be part of the conversations and change to create more inclusive environments that will help the bar and restaurant industry evolve and succeed,” says Heidi Vargas, Co-Chair of the Bacardi Women in Leadership for Bacardi North America. “While we will miss being together in person, we want to keep the conversations moving and provide this resource to our extended family across the hospitality world.”
