Beer Institute estimated U.S. brewers shipped 15,531,000 barrels in August, 4.3% less than a year earlier. For the year-to-date, beer shipments are down 2.3%.
Comment: While beer seems to be on a perpetual downward slope, it’s important to remember that no tree grows to the sky and no beverage sees sales naturally slip to zero. We saw this 30 years ago, when spirits sales were in the cellar, only to rebound as a new generation came along. We expect the same thing will occur with beer.
