Argentina’s Achaval Ferrer Acquires Melipal Winery

Achaval Ferrer, an Argentinian winery known for producing Malbec, said it has acquired Melipal Winery located in Agrelo, Mendoza. Terms were not disclosed.

Achaval Ferrer, one of the pioneers in bringing the Malbec varietal to the world, was founded in 1998 and quickly rose to become one of Argentina’s first “cult” wineries.

The acquisition of the Melipal winery and vineyards enables Achaval Ferrer to enter new markets. As part of the acquisition comes the exceptional “Las Nazarenas” Malbec vineyard planted in 1923, which reinforces the commitment of the bodega to produce unique wines.
