The film will hit select theaters in the U.S. and Canada Aug. 2 and will be released on demand on the same day.
Kings of Beer provides a never-before-seen look at the rigorous standards and intense competition that characterizes the brewing of the world’s most iconic American Lager.
“Kings of Beer is a story about regular people from all over the world who dreamed of becoming Brewmasters and who share an uncompromising ambition to be the best at their craft,” said producer Justin V. Barocas, CEO of ACE Content. “We found their stories to be incredibly inspiring and we think that anyone who wants to be the best at what they do, will love these characters too.”
Tony Piantedosi, Vice President of Acquisitions at Gravitas Ventures added, “ACE Content and director Sean Mullin have done an incredible job of capturing the profound attention to detail that these Brewmasters put into their craft. We think this film has the power to resonate with a wide audience and we are excited to share it this summer.”
“Kings of Beer is a special film, not only because of Budweiser’s role in America’s brewing history, but because for the first time we are able to offer audiences a seat in our tasting room for a firsthand look at our very personal and competitive process,” said Pete Kraemer, a fifth-generation brewer and the Chief Global Brewmaster at Budweiser, who also appears in the film.
“We hope this film will shed light on the complexity of brewing and inspire more Brewmasters to come.”
Kings of Beer centers around a diverse group of elite Budweiser Brewmasters from 65 breweries and 23 countries as they battle it out in an intense competition to brew the best American Lager, which is notoriously regarded as the most difficult beer to brew.
Judged by an illustrious group of experts who are sequestered deep within the historic walls of Budweiser’s “Room 220” (St. Louis, Missouri) — the most renowned room in the brewing world, which is responsible for ensuring the quality of more than a quarter of the world’s beer – the Brewmaster who can brew the best, most consistent American Lager over a 12-month period will bring home the coveted Global Brewmaster Cup.
