In the wake of yesterday’s shooting of House Majority Leader Steve Scalise and three others who were practicing for the annual Congressional Baseball Game at Nationals Park, the team managers and House leaders announced the game would go on Thursday evening as scheduled.
That was good news in two respects. First, it showed that a hate-filled person would not prevent Members of Congress for engaging in some bipartisan recreation. Second, Anheuser-Busch, which has been a sponsor of the game for years, planned a number of events in connection with the game.
One of the iconic Budweiser Clydesdales is coming to the stadium to interact with guests, pose for photos and deliver the first pitch.
There will be a pre-game concert featuring the Wil Gravatt Band in the Budweiser Terrace on the second level concourse starting at 5:30 PM.
The game ball will be delivered by the Budweiser Clydesdale and Doug Bailey at 7:00 PM. We understand the game will be carried on C-Span.
Anheuser-Busch beers, including Budweiser, Bud Light, Shock Top and Goose Island, will be served throughout the pre-game festivities and during the game.
Anheuser-Busch is a major sponsor of each of the Congressional Sports for Charities events this spring, including the Capital Soccer Classic and Congressional Women’s Softball Game.
