Trudy Busch Valentine, an heiress to the Anheuser-Busch fortune, relied on $5.3 million of her personal wealth to outspend populist Lucas Kunce and win the Missouri Democratic nomination for retiring Missouri Sen. Roy Blunt’s seat in the U.S. Senate with 43% of the vote vs. Kunce’s 38%.
Busch Valentine will face Missouri Attorney General Eric Schmitt in November. He defeated former Gov. Eric Greitens when voters rejected his denials of sexual and physical abuse of his wife and a mistress.
