2 Texas Bars’ Liquor Licenses Suspended for Defying Shutdown Order

Two Texas bars — one in Abilene, the other in Longview — refused to close after Gov. Greg Abbot ordered closures to combat the novel coronavirus.  So the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Control Commission suspended their liquor licenses for 30 days.  Next offense: 60 days.

Meanwhile, Florida also ordered all bars to close.  The order came just minutes after officials reported nearly 9,000 new coronavirus cases, a new record.  Bars can continue to sell alcohol in closed containers for-off premise consumption.
